This new year marks a big milestone for the Women’s Fund. 2011 is our 25th anniversary.
It’s awesome to look back and see what we’ve accomplished together in that time: distributed more than $2.5 million in grants that gave voice and resources to some of the most underserved and isolated women in our community, engaged a diverse donor base of almost 4,000 women and men, and invested more than $5 million to sustain the present and future philanthropic leadership of the Women’s Fund.
But when I look at these accomplishments, I know that we are called on to do more: to make a difference in the black infant mortality crisis, to conquer violence against women, and to support women’s leadership in all sectors of our society.
I am inspired by author Arundhati Roy who said, “Another day is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
She means us! And the power of our collective. A big thanks to everyone who supported the Women’s Fund in 2010.
